Holidays

The shared calendar of public holidays the whole company observes, and where HR plans and publishes them.

Overview

Holidays is a single, organization-wide calendar listing every public holiday for the year, shown either as a monthly grid or a simple list.

Holidays can be marked Confirmed (fixed and certain) or Expected (tentative, such as a date that depends on moon sighting), each with an optional note.

Who uses it

  • HR Admins: Add, edit, and remove holidays, and mark them Confirmed or Expected.
  • Managers: By default also have permission to add, edit, and remove holidays (the same right that lets them manage employees).
  • Employees: View the calendar of upcoming and past holidays; cannot make changes.

What you can do here

  • Browse the year's holidays as a visual monthly calendar, or switch to a simple list view.
  • Add a holiday by choosing a date, giving it a name (for example, “Independence Day”), marking it Confirmed or Expected, and adding an optional descriptive note.
  • Edit or delete an existing holiday.
  • Move between years using the year selector to plan ahead or look back.

Step-by-step: Adding a new company holiday

  1. 1Go to Holidays (or Settings > Holidays — both show the same calendar).
  2. 2Choose the year you want to plan, then click Add holiday, or click directly on the date in the calendar.
  3. 3Enter the holiday's date and name, and mark it Confirmed or Expected.
  4. 4Optionally add a note explaining anything uncertain (for example, why the date might shift).
  5. 5Save. The holiday now appears on the shared calendar for everyone in the company, and can be reopened for editing later.

How it connects to other modules

  • Attendance: confirmed holidays automatically appear on every employee's attendance calendar and the monthly attendance sheet, and are excluded from working-day and absence counts.
  • Leave Management: holidays are excluded when counting how many working days a leave request actually uses; working on a public holiday can also earn compensatory time off.

Good to know

  • Confirmed holidays are treated as settled and affect attendance and leave calculations; Expected holidays are shown as tentative so everyone knows the date could still change.
  • Only people who can manage employees (HR Admins, and by default Managers) can add, edit, or delete holidays — everyone else has a view-only calendar.
  • The holiday calendar applies to the whole organization; there is no separate calendar per team, department, or location.
